how do u use aquarium air stones? do u just drop them down the tank? can u buy them at wal mart?

do u just drop them down or do u need something to make it work?

you put them at the end of your air tube. the air stone breaks up the air coming out of the tube into fine bubbles.
you need an air pump, hook up the air tube, put the air stone on the end of the tube. put the tube in the water so the air stone rests at the bottom of the tank. turn on the pump... whee! make sure the bubbles are pretty small when they come up and it's not too vigorous, the fish don't like it. But they sure do love to play in the bubbles. replace the air stone every 6 months because they will deteriorate over time.

I miss my air stone from my previous tank (sob!) now I have the Eclipse system which does not need an air pump.

Just drop them in. And yes, you should be able to get them at Wal-Mart.

Mathew has a good post, I could not have said it better, the air stone needs to be connected to an air pump.

You can but them at anyplace that sells aquarium supplies.
