ok now this is algebra and i do not get how to do the following so it would be helpful if you can explain how to do it Thanx in advance...

The ADA says that a handicap ramp has to have a slope of 1/12. your neighbor was recently injured and needs you to build a ramp for him. His porch is 6 feet tall. How long is your ramp?

Whenever you see a proportion, Set the formula this way: one is to twelve as 6 is to X. So in algebraic form: 1/12 = 6/X. Then solve for X.
