The southern states began seceding from the Union in late 1860 after Abraham Lincoln won the Presidential election that year. That was a threat that was promised. South Carolina was the first. That spring, the city of Charleston gave the Union men at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor until midnight on April 12, 1861 to be out of the fort. When the troops stood their ground they were fired upon. By morning the Union had surrendered the fort. The war lasted for long years until the Confederate surrender at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia on April 15, 1865.

The American Civil War (1861–1865) was a war between the United States Federal government (the "Union") and eleven Southern slave states that declared their secession and formed the Confederate States of America, led by President Jefferson Davis. The Union, led by President Abraham Lincoln and the Republican Party, opposed the expansion of slavery and rejected any right of secession. Fighting commenced on April 12, 1861, when Confederate forces attacked a Federal military installation at Fort Sumter in South Carolina.[1]

North "free" states and South "slave" states had a disagreement about slavery for many years. At first, North wanted to stop slavery from spreading. Later, many Northerners wanted slavery to stop everywhere. The South wanted to keep slavery. They passed many laws and compromises, but at the end both sides had a problem. When Lincoln was elected, South decided to separate or secede from the Union. South Carolina was the first to go, and many other "slave" states joined them. They elected Jefferson Davis as president and started Confederate States of America. At first, president Lincoln thought they will come back. He waited for months for them to come back. But, that never happened. The Civil War started in Charleston, South Carolina on April 12, 1861 when Confederate army led by General Beauregard attacked Fort Sumter.

Yes the north wanted the south to sell their Cotton to the northern factories powered by economic slaves. The south wanted to sell to the highest bidder, the north put up a naval barricade thus the war began. The North worked their people much harder and longer and in much worse conditions than the So called slave owners. The south is still being cast as the bad guys but that is propaganda for Profit. The Blue Bloods[now known as the Feds] just wanted control over all. After bringing the south under it's control they used the same guns against the Indians. The Recent push for more Fed Control was NAFTA. So pay your taxes you financial slaves as you have no choice.
