Anything is boring if it is repeated often enough. To judge how good a song is check out how soon people got bored with it. Very few songs written in the last twenty years are memorable. I' ve never been a Beatles fan but you have to admit that "Imagine" is still being played a lot more than any No 1 from the last twenty years. That's because it has a tune and words that you can hear and pepole can relate to it's message. It's a thinking man's (or woman's) song. Most modern music is like a drug and is written to wipe out reality, if you want to party, get a beat, if you want to put the world to rights, or just your own life in order, "Imagine" is as good as any.

You must remember when it was written. Those were the days that people - like Johan Lennon - started coming out their shells and took note of the world and what went on around us - I think that for the TIMES the song is the most excellent song ever written. You have to reallt listen to the words of the song and imagine the TIMES we lived in then!!

Probably not - in fact looking at the list of people who seem to agree with you I should say most definitely not!!!! - but I'm curious as to why you don't like Lennon - fair enough, you don't like 'Imagine' - to be honest it's not my favourite either - but thinking that Lennon is overrated? - is that because almost every other person worships him (that would be my reason if I needed one - which I don't - I think he really was incredibly talented) or is it because you really just don't like any of his songs? Btw have you listened to The Ballad of John and Yoko? I don't know why I'm picking that but it has just always been one of my favs. I personally think he really was brilliant, it's not an ordinary person who can write the amount - and variety - of songs that he did. Anyway at the end of the day you don't have to like him mate - there were and are MILLIONS - well not millions of course but certainly quite a few - other talented musicians to appreciate.
- sorry about going on a bit, you don't have to read it all, I just like writing :) :)

imagine is a undying classic and a number of Lennon's perfect artwork. some warfare protest songs i love. Deja Vu all yet yet again with techniques from John Fogerty what's happening with techniques from Marvin Gaye I also like lengthy Haired us of a Boy with techniques from Charlie Daniels, that may be considered a protest hostile to conformity.

No, you're not the only one. Other people have no taste, either.
J/K. Love John Lennon, kinda agree with you on the song though. Only a little bit, but i see your point.

I think it is a good song. Not great by any means. I don't dislike it but I agree that it is rated too highly in general.

No you're not alone on this one. I think lots of people just won't admit it. People think you're weird if you pull a face when the song comes on! Just because the guy got shot?? That doesn't make him a musical genius.
