There is a Government there .If we bully the government to much it is not theirs if it is not theirs Sadr wins.If we kill Sadr he is a martyr and we lose. The Sunni feel they have no place in the Government and they are right the rest of the country wants them dead. The things that were done under Saddam did not just go away neither has the resentment towards us for abandoning the Shia after the Gulf war. This is not by any means an easy task.Nothing worth while is ever easy. Those people deserve to have their freedom and country, the fact that they don't know how is the reason we need to stay. If we leave we will be throwing them to the wolves and for what because we don't have what it takes to hang tough when the going gets hard.
Mostly it is not our troops that are being killed. They are killing each other over old resentments.

Bush was trying to make some kind of a deal with an important Shiite militia leader today, Hakim. Apparently there are 2 big militias, Hakim's, and one under the command of the radical cleric Sadr's. Maliki, the president is an ally of Sadr. Then, there are the Sunnis and the Kurds. Bush is to meet with the Sunni vice president of Iraq next month. What a mess, eh?

Stopping terrorism is like curring cancer - there is no profit. Profit lies only in treatment and in this particular case, an once treatment is worth a billion times a pound of cure.
I am the Fringe and this is not the first occurrence of sacrificial classism.

The Presidents mistake was expecting Middle Eastern Muslims to behave like rational human beings. He was wrong.Between the BIASED press and the bad situation in Iraq, the President can't win.

Simply put, you can never win a 'politically correct' war.....let the soldiers do what they do best---kill people.
If you're going to fight a half-a$$ed war, get out now.

Sure. The ignorant already say he's a dictator, so he should go ahead and oblige them.

Please remember terrorists were not there before Bush sent his soldiers there. They moved there later on.
So much for Bush's declaration of 'victory' in a pantsuit.
