The way the pill works it tri-fold. It works to prevent ovulation, it works to change the fluid your cervix releases to make it harder for sperm to get through, and it prevents implantation (by causing your uterine lining to shed when you begin the placebos) in case ovulation or the cervical fluid changes don't prevent fertilization. Your question is complicated, and really, the answer can only be based on your own beliefs on when life begins. If you believe that life begins the moment sperm meets egg, then, yes, you are "killing a baby". If you believe it begins later, then no, you aren't.
Strictly speaking: CONCEPTION begins when sperm meets egg, but as for when you believe life is growing, that's religious, moral, and individual.

ok the birth control pill prevents pregnancy. and the embryo isnt an embryo untill it has been fertilized. meaning its just an egg. so no your not killing anything. and the pill keeps the egg from becoming an embyo. and you have a new egg every month and your period is what gets the out and then your next cycle there is a new egg. ok there is nothing to be afraid of by taking birth control to keep from getting pregnant. besides where do you think the egg goes with out the pill? it doesnt stay and grow right?

The birth control pill prevents ovulation and sometimes implantation. If you change your uterus so the embryo can't attach you some would argue that you haven't really killed it, because this happens a lot in nature, but your own personal values may advise you differently. But I think it's great that you want to understand how a drug works before you use it. By all means don't limit this to the birth control pill!
As a liberal I do not care one way or another whether you use birth control pills. Enjoy the freedom you have to choose and good luck to you.

What the pill does is trick your body into thinking it's already pregnant by simulating the hormonal environment that exists during a pregnancy. The levels of estrogen and progesterone that are around when you're on the pill interfere with fertilization; as, changes in your cervical mucus make it almost impenetrable to sperm, and ovulation is supressed so there isn't any egg around to be fertilized. So, no, since there is no egg around when you take the pill, you are not "aborting pregnancies". Conception occurs in the fallopian tube before implantation, but it can't happen if there's no egg waiting there to be fertilized.

No, you're not aborting pregnancies because when you're taking the pill you never become pregnant. The sperm never meets the egg. The pill prevents the egg from releasing from the ovary.

EITHER might occur, and this is what the liberals aren't telling you most of the time. Some of them below are either lying to you or they're not aware, themselves.
The egg can become FERTILIZED (which means that the life has begun) and then be prevented from implanting.
Pills, IUD's and other methods can cause this to happen.
Your best choices are:
1. Don't have sex before you're married, and this is very simple for a woman and used to be practiced in the days before liberalism. There are reasons for this other than simply not becoming pregnant.
2. Practice sensible timing in marriage.
3. Use condoms, which is a really bad choice, but better than this. The first two choices are really the best.

The pill makes your body think it's pregnant so it will not make an egg pop out and prevents pregnancies from occuring. It's not abortion since the sperm has nothing to fertilize.

If you're talking about the birth control pill, then you are preventing an egg from being released, so conception never occurs.

No the abortion pill is used to thicken the lining of your uterus up to the point that an egg can't attach itself and basically will flush out like a period.
