Our duty, to one another as Americans, was to support our President after being attacked in such a way.
I still support him. BTW

I never backed Bush. I always remembered what he did before 9/11. Taking those constant vacations and being generally inept. However, I did give him a week or so, of a "free pass" where I did not criticize him and gave him a chance to give an accurate response to the actions of that day. However, he failed in all accounts. Waiting 441 days until an investigation that was not even thoroughly investigated or funded. Also, if one looks at the FBI most wanted page for Osama Bin Laden, he is not even wanted for 9/11. And the redacted pages from the 9/11 Commission report regarding Saudi Arabia. So, there is some evidence that Mr. Bush is keeping from us that would unveil the truth about that day. It is too sad that 5 years after, we still do not know who or what attacked us on 9/11/01.

I am of no party affiliation. I was skeptical at first about the invasion. But I realize, as some others do, that you have to approach this conflict like a chess game or football. Planning moves ahead of time. People may not like it. It is obvious that he is not popular right now for decisions that he is making, however, in the future, who knows what history will tell about this president. Currently, we have bases in Iraq. What country is due east? Think about it. Iran. Look at the threat they pose. Why did we stay instead of abandoning our bases in Japan? N. Korea. Most of us only see our Soldiers dying. Look at the numbers compared to other wars. Small by a large margin. 9/11 changed alot of things including, installing preventitive measures and I do currently support that.

No I didn't. I don't think he handled any of it well. And I feel like he lied through the whole thing. When he first heard the news he continued sitting with school children. He should have immediately excused himself to get as much information as possible and begun to handle the situation. Even if it had just been an accident there would have been evacuations and many deaths. He should have reacted.
Then we heard all these tough guy promises. We'll keep going until we get them all. If you support terror we will no longer consider you a friend. Well who did we get? And we support a lot of countries that support terrorism. So it was all just lies.
Then, he went to war in Iraq. Totally a fake out to hide his ineptitude. Do I think Saddam is a tyrant and evil dictator who tortured and killed people and needed to be stopped. Yes. But only with the support of the UN and our allies. I feel like he was going in to clean up a mess that his father left behind. He pulled out and didn't finish when we did have the support of the world and the UN and so his son decided to go back and try again. And he lied to do it.
That being said I support the troops. I just support them coming home safe. But if they have to be there until we can safely pull them out then we should give them the greatest protection and equipment possible.

On 9/11, it immediately stopped being funny that our president was an idiot, but I agreed that we were justified in invading Afghanistan to hunt down Bin Laden. So, in that limited sense, I "backed" him.
Of course, it wasn't long before we started f*cking up in Afghanistan. We let Bin Laden escape. We paid warlords to capture POWs who were not guilty of any crime, then we sent them to Gitmo. We allowed -- and by many indications participated in -- torture. We didn't invest in rebuilding Afghanistan. Then we started the Iraq nonsense. So it wasn't long before I reverted to NOT backing him on any major issue at all.
When it comes to Bush, the only question left unanswered for me is whether he is the worst president ever, or merely one of the very worst.

Yes, and I still do. Although democracy in Muslim countries may not survive due to Islamic law. Only God can change the hearts of those who are spiritually blind.
President Bush is a great leader of a great nation. He is doing what he believes will protect our country. It has worked so far. Alot of good things are taking place in Iraq that go unnoticed by the media. As long as our troops believe in what they are doing over there, I must stand with them. We need to fight Islamic fascists here at home also. Eighty percent of the mosques here in the U.S. are lead by fascists

No. One Bush was enough .. and I was in eighth-grade then. The second Bush was not my fault either.
EDIT: "Only God can change the hearts of those who are spiritually blind." Quotes like this are why Americans are hated all over the world. Who is blind now?

I did until he declared war in Iraq. He made a colossal blunder which cost America almost 3,000 service men and women. He created more turmoil in Iraq than was there to begin with. I cannot wait for him to leave office.
