In your own words, as if you were talking to a child. (doing a project where I make a Happy Meal bag and I need a story, please) If you don't feel like summarizing a story, give me the whole thing. Thanks.

Artemis was the goddess of the hunt and the moon and the night. Her twin brother is Apollo, god of the sun. She has a silver glow all around and is very beautiful. She asked her daddy Zeus to promise her somethings...one is that he would never make her get married, she also asked for a silver bow and arrow and for some hunting dogs and helpers named nymphs. One night she was taking a bath in a lake when aa hunter spotted her. When Artemis saw him she changed him into a stag because she did not like men looking at her and sent the man's dogs to chase him away.

If I were talking to a child say the ages of 8-12 I would say the following to them:

First do you know who the Ancient Greeks were and what a Goddess and God is to them? If they did not know this I would breifly explain, but assuming they already do by asking the above question I would continue to tell that child:

Artemis was most praised and worshiped by the fabled Amazons. The Amazons were a warrior race of woman said to have had a Queen fight Achilles and died by his hand at the Tojan War. They worshiped Artemis because not only was Artemis a Goddess, but also a lover of nature and earth.

The virgin goddess of the hunt and the moon and twin sister of Apollo (Greek Mythology)

. Young Athenian girls between the ages of five and ten were sent to the sanctuary of Artemis at Brauron to serve the Goddess for one year. During this time the girls were known as arktoi, or little she-bears. A myth explaining this servitude relates that a bear had gotten into the habit of regularly visiting the town of Brauron, and the people there fed it, so that over time the bear became tame. A young girl teased the bear, and, in some versions of the myth it killed her, while in other versions it clawed her eyes out. Either way, the girl's brothers killed the bear, and Artemis was enraged. She demanded that young girls "act the bear" at her sanctuary in atonement for the bear's death.

Virginal Artemis was worshipped as a fertility/childbirth goddess in some places since, according to some myths, she assisted her mother in the delivery of her twin. During the Classical period in Athens, she was identified with Hecate. Artemis also assimilated Caryatis (Carya) and Ilithyia

Artemis was pretty fierce — don't know if the best kind for kids. She required her consort to remain virginal and in the event that they violated this they were flayed or fed to wolves or worse. Now enjoy your big macs little ones . . .
