I have an original mini-ipod and when I take it to school, sometimes it has a full battery and then all of a sudden it shuts down to low battery. This seems to be only when its cold out. Does anybody else have problems with mini-ipods that are similiar to this? Does it need a new battery? Is it from the cold? Does any body have any solutions? Thanks so much!

It sounds like your battery. You have to send it to apple for replacement.

It is your battery, I have a mini and the same problem, but I started to notice it only after I let the battery drain completely once and didn't use it for a while. Now it wont stay charged at all, I'm just considering buying a new nano.

This is from the ipod website and below is the website for the battery replacement program:

Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings.

It could just be a problem with your battery, but before you do anything else I would go to the apple website and make sure that you have the most updated software for your ipod. Make sure its the ipod software and not itunes. This can sometimes fix a problem like this.

ipods are made to last only a year, so you have to keep buying new ones. if you think it is from the cold, buy a carrying case designed for ipod-minis(you can get one online or at any apple store) and always keep it in there. this has happened to me and i just try to charge it again. first buy the carrying case, then look into buying a new battery
