Well, there is no absolute 100% way to ensure this. This is because when you delete a file from your computer, it is actually only marked for overwriting by the hard drive once it has been completely filled up. And even when overwritten, data is still recoverable for several more passes.
The best way to ensure that nobody finds out about the activity on a computer is to perform a low-level format with several passes of random data. Many programs are designed fo this use, such as killdisk (www.killdisk.com)

There is no way to make absolutely certain no one can find out.
You can erase all your internet temporary files, clear out your history, empty the recycle bin -- that will get rid of 99% of the traces on YOUR computer. But guess what -- servers that host web sites keep logs of the computers that visit them -- if somebody with a valid legal reason asks them if your computer has been to this web site, they will pull their records and let them know (it usually takes a search warrant, but not always -- some web sites give out this information freely).
If you don't want anyone to know you visited a web site, either don't visit it, or do it from somebody else's computer or an internet cafe :)
