Its addicting more than cigarettes! Its terrible, but its fun to always see how many angles you can argue a point from, and really, often you learn things, keep up with current events better, and make a few friends if your lucky. Its just enjoyable, and the points make it kinda fun too, but overall it is pointless but entertaining

The very nature of politics invites debate, because there really are no right answers.
No one can change anyone's mind about abortion, politics or the church by arguing, but everyone still tries. Most do it critically and rave, which isn't going to convince or sway anyone, either.
But this is an open forum, so anyone who asks for answers is going to get 95% opinion.
It isn't just here--check out the other forums, (like the Pet forums or the relationship forums), and you will see some very lame opinions that don't even address the question at all.
So let 'em rant and rave -- this seems to be the place for it. I'd rather have them doing it here than next to my table at a restaurant :-)

YOu have seen what is called newbie shock. you come thinking its about really getting answers and questions.. you try so hard but then you finally realize that it is pointless. so you fall into the trap and sling some mud too. every once in a while there is good questions and 3 or 4 people answer them and you go on. Like anything else its just wasting time and sometimes you do get some good info.

Just like life, once in a blue moon you find a kindred spirit, a slice of a childhood or teenaged memory. Some of us are still exorcising the Vietnam War. I think most of the questions you wouldn't ask your friends or coworkers 'cause politics aren't always good discussions for friendships.

Honing your rhetoric skills keeps you sharp, and trying different types of arguments and seeing which are more and less convincing makes you a better thinker, writer and conversationalist. It's an excellent way to keep your skills up.

Does the idea of sharing professional knowledge with those that request it, want it, need it, or obviously don't have it and need it shoved down their throats make any sense?
It's called the world of sharing... go finish smoking your bowl, watch, and be amazed... we love it, we can handle it.

Bah because the addiction must be fed my friend.
It is a really effective way to kill time and I would rather kill time mocking the political beliefs of those who dont believe as I do.( well I try not to mock anymore) (TRY)

HATE!!!!
I was on the Democrat Plantation for years. The Democrats used tax brackets to keep us down and poor.
When I finally realized what the Democrats were doing, I vowed to escape the Democrat Plantation.
I escaped, but I hate them for what they do to the lower class working people.
