I don't know. When a celebrity does visible charitable work, then he/she is a good role model. Otherwise, people identify with a non-realistic view of a character on the screen and not with a real person.
Sometimes celebrities don't know one end from another but happen to make a lot of money. Preteens and teens want to emulate that image without real basis.

well, the majority of them aren't good role models- I wouldn't want my kids turning out like them..
They have too much money and do stupid things. People who have too much money tend to take things for granted as well. The majority care too much about their looks. Beauty is only skin deep. And no, I'm not just saying that because I'm some ugly person. I really believe that.
They're not all bad though. This is just a generalization.

Paris, Lindsay, etc are NOT!1 I sort of think Angelina Jolie is a pretty good role model. She donates to all of charity and does humantiarain work. Hilary Duff is a good role model and does a lot of charity work too even though she's a little corney.

made you ugly and now my 8 yr old...100 pound cousin wont take a bite because she thinks no one could ever like her that way
My cousin may be chubby but she's still not ugly...in fact she prettier than a bunch of bony girls in her class.Some celebs really disgust me but some are really giving.
Shakira spends a lot of her fortune opening up shool and homes where abandoned children in colombia may live and on top of that she also provides them with money for everyday things like food for maybe 1000's of kids...other celebs should learn from her...

The majority, no way. Unfortunately the WORST ones are the ones that impressionable kids are exposed to the most: Britney, Paris, Nicole, Lindsay, etc. Too bad!

I mean, it is commonly known that most celebrities arent, but there are quite a few that are trying to to better things.
For example, Bono, he is hugely involved in AIDS prevention and awareness. There are many more, and I hope that they continue to strive to use their famous life to promote good things.

some are and some are not...
halle berry, resse witherspoon etc are pretty good role models
paris, k-fed, nichole, britney etc are not good role models
