I just bought an Epiphone Wildkat guitar. It is a semi-hollow body guitar. The problem is that it is unbalanced. I can play with it in my lap just fine. When I stand with it using a strap, the head and neck are heavier than the body so it tilts in the wrong direction. Is there any way to fix this?

Ok so where should I change the strap connection points to? In terms of changing the balance of the guitar, where would be the best spot to connect the strap to the guitar to tilt it in the proper direction? I'm talking about when I'm standing up with the guitar.

You've got to keep your hand on the neck to play anyway, right? Why not just hold it up? Eventually you'll get used to the weight of it. Trust me, I know from years of playing myself. But don't those hollow bodies just sound so nice?

Unfortunately no technical way, it all comes down to physics, i have the same problem with my Jackson RR3 and wasnt bothered fixing it however if your singing and need to let go of the guitar it could become a problem. I would just use sum gaffer tape and tape something small and heavy in an un-noticable place on the body to balance it out.

Good Luck

Get some lead weights and attach or sew them into your guitar strap.(the side closest to the guitar body. Worked for me. I would stay away from adding weight to the guitar or putting stuff inside that can just screw it up.

I would take it to a guitar shop and have it looked at. They might be able to move the strap peg to balance it out.

set the body on your left knee if your right handed and tilt the neck up the guitar will force it's self to balance then

I would'nt attach weights to your guitar to try and balance it , thats just calling for other problems. I assume you're new at this so.....you're just going to have to do whatever it takes to phisically compensate for what you need, OR get another guitar thats easier to hold right away.
