I have a friend that is doing time in prison and he is asking me to help him obtain the forms to file for a divorce. I am not sure who to call or write for this matter. I appreciate anyone's help.

It is completely normal for a prisoner to file for divorce. I would tell him to speak to someone in the prison system I would just tell them I do not know and I do not want to get into the middle of your personal life. Also explain to him that you are not sure on all the legalities surrounding the situation.

He should already have a lawyer as he is in jail, so contact his lawyer and talk to him. He'll then contact a divorce lawyer for him, only if you ask. But you're friend might have to do it. Because you are not the one filling for divorse therefore its against the law to give information to someone ouside of the relationship.

Start with his lawyer and trust me it's easy street from there. Lawyers help other lawyers. He'll refer you or your friend ( which ever is the easiest ) to the right people. Piece of cake.
