If you never watched the WWE before the attitude era this question is not for you. I have been watching wrestling for more than 20 years. I have seen the WWE go throught the extreme ups and downs. I am not going to say that the WWE is at its worst time ever right now by no means. But I have to ask what is wrong with the WWE today? Is is the wrestlers? Is it Vince? Is it the creative team? Is it the fans? What do you think?

A lot of good input everyone. I blame a couple things. First off I blame society because with new developments in technology each movie has better and better effects and we become imune to things that would have excited us back in the 80's. Second, and this may suprise people, I blame the attitude era. This was the era where the WWF started caring more about the stories and less about the wrestling. I really don't blame McMahon because he is a straight businessman and his main business is in ratings. He is not going to push someone or shomething that is not going to give him great ratings. And with that I'll give you the biggest thing I blame. THE FANS. Fans in America have lost their appreciation for what quality wrestling is. The majority of fans would rather see a hell in a cell match with Undertaker, Kane, Khali, Lashley, Batista, and the Big Show more than a standard match between Angle and Benoit. Technical wrestling is just not popular in our society anymore. It's a shame.

I THINK, AS COMPARED TO 20 YEARS AGO, THE WRESTLERS ARE CONCENTRATING ON DEVELOPING THEIR MIC SKILLS INSTEAD OF THEIR IN RING SKILLS. EVERYONE WANTS TO BE AN ACTOR

Good question dude. Well, I guess its a little bit of all of them. Look at the wrestlers, during the Attitude Era, there were wrestlers with real talent. EX: The Rock , Stone Cold etc. Now the top guys in wwe dont have much talent. wwe is using batista, big show, lashley, umaga and giving them i big push just cause of their size. They are overlooking the actual talent which is making people and wrestlers unhappy. ex: Angle and Christian left the wwe.
As for Vince, HE brought back ecw which is nothing as compared to the original one, all he cares is about making money.
Its the same old storylines again and again....If wwe let a child write creative storylines...it would be better.
I am not saying wwe sucks...they couls still realize their mistakes and do something better. Dx reunion and hardy reunion was good. but they need to have more stuff like that. Stuff thats gonna make the fans watch wrestling.

i think that the wwe is in a lull right now because for the past several years they havent had to compete with any other major wrestling companies. with the tna comming on like they are i think you will start to see a return to the attitude era with the wwe taking more risks and trying more new things, rather than just the same old stuff that has been done over and over. ALSO i think a big reason for the dip in entertainment is due to the fact that several superstars left at the same time, namely the rock and stone cold, and now the wwe creative team is trying to fill there shoes by making people act like them (cena trying to be the new rock) and it doesnt work.

all in all i think the wwe will slowly return to what they were as tna becomes more popular (that sounds odd but think about it). to hold on to long time fans the wwe is going to have to resell themselves to the fans to keep them from jumping over to tna.

I have been watching the WWE for 15 years and I have to tell you that it is Vince's fault all the way! He doesn't care anymore about wrestling, all he cares about is the entertainment in the business nowadays, and it's evident on who he has as his WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion. He only pushes (or at least nowadays) and gives the World Titles to those who are muscled-bound steroid users and/or people who can entertain a crowd but can't really wrestle, instead of giving the Title to someone who can actually wrestle and are Ring Generals (like Chris Benoit, Chavo Guerrero, Edge, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, etc.) like he used to with people like Bret Hart, Bob Backlund, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, Ricky Steamboat, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Owen Hart, Harley Race and so on. Also, he doesn't let high flying and hardcore wrestlers do what they are best at anymore, which is the reason ECW is awful, the Cruiserweight Division has become a sham, and wrestlers like AJ Styles and others refuse to wrestle for the WWE. Also, his ego has become out of control and alot of wrestlers and people backstage are getting sick of it. Hell, most of this New ECW was his idea, but when December to Dismember didn't do well he fired Paul Heyman because he, in Vince's words, is "stuck in the past and doesn't understand the new vision of ECW." I am sorry, but isn't the reason why ECW is doing so terrible is because of Vince's "New Vision?" He also has decided that he only wants a few wrestlers to actually hold the World Titles, especially the WWE Title, because you rarely see anyone that deserves a chance (like Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin, Chris Benoit, Jeff Hardy, Johnny Nitro, Chavo Guerrero, and so on) doesn't get them, insted he rather give the shots to people like Umaga, who is nothing but a complete copy off of Samoa Joe, and not a good one at that. What happened to the WWE? They used to be so good at giving us the best show possible, and there story lines used to be classic, like the one between Randy Savage when they fought over Ms. Elizabeth's affections, or the storyline that put Bret Hart-vs.-Owen Hart in a classic rivalry, nowadays they are all alike and lack creativity. What happened to rivalries that put two wrestlers that work well against each other and are similar in matches, like Bret Hart-vs.-Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan-vs.-Randy Savage, The Rock-vs.-Steve Austin, Bret Hart-vs.-Mr. Perfect, The Undertaker-vs.-Mankind, and so on. If they wanted good rivalries they should put Randy Orton-vs.- John Cena and Chris Benoit-vs.-The Undertaker. I just truly believe that Vince doesn't care about the wrestling or the fans anymore, all he cares about is the entertainment and how much money he can make from it. I hope that answers your question.

I think it's the creative team......they seem to be doing the same story lines...not exactly the same, but everything is so predictable now. It's getting to be really boring to watch. With TNA...there isn't AS MUCH of a story line, but it's harder to predict what's going to happen every night. Plus, with the addition of some new wrestlers it creates more drama. That's where I think WWE has gone wrong, they have so many 'superstars' is hard to keep track of things..and they bring in these new, young guys, and a month later, they're gone...never to be heard from again.

I've watched the wwe, or wwf as I preffer to call it since wrestlemania 4,I strongly believe its the creative team thats having a hard time with coming up with something new. What didn't help them as well was when they changed their name to wwe. I think thats when they started going downhill. I sure hope they can bounce back.
