80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

Hi,

What a deep and lively question you have asked????????

To me life is a long fearful journey if you do not enjoy it's depth with that peace, adventure and zest.

And it's a short miraculous phase if you live every part of life to the fullest by innovating new ideas to know its full worth,by helping the needy and thereby yourself(your self conscience).
By discovering new ways to make it more marvellous with all time positive outlook.
Life---A true Pal !

To laugh
To learn
To grow
To discover all you can while you are here and try to be a good person so you can go to a better place after the ride ends. For a friend of mine the ride came to a complete stop this past Saturday. It was a heck of a ride she said and it was a lot of fun but she said she was being called to a better place.

For me, the meaning of life is to find happiness, in ways that will help you mature into a responsible adult, and to help others do the same.

No meaning. But then I feel that for me it is to enhance the awareness of being alive and of being part of life itself, but I wouldn't say that should be the meaning of life other than mine.

Life is a wonderful gift from the creator of all that exists. It is our opportunity to experience love but also hate, joy but also sorrow, kindness but also selfishness, mercy but also injustice. You have important work to do during life and important choices to make concerning all of these experiences. Hopefully, you fulfill in your own way the flowering of your own spirit in your own unique way so that you may return to God as a spiritual being that is a wiser, kinder, more loving and in all other ways a closer representation of God who made us in his/her image.
