i would prefer an answer from someone who has acutally been a marketing analyst. i could simply look up a job description online but they are mostly broad generalities. thanks!

The short answer....is they analyze the market.

As part of developing a new product or line extension, they analyze the market (competition, consumers, pricing, distribution, communications, product features, etc.)

If a product is already out in the market, they review how the product is doing, how competitors are doing, and make recommendations for strategy. They make recommendations or cost out ideas to estimate ROI (return on investment)

Post any marketing programs, they analze the results. Seeing if the program "worked"

they look at which sector of society to focus on with a particular product.
