A crucifix, and a set of male genitals.

And please don't answer if all you're going to say is that divination is stupid, or evil, or if you're only going to be sarcastic. I would like serious answers regarding the tradition.

These shapes were actually left by candle wax, but I hear the shape meanings are the same in both tasseo- and cero-mancy. The crucifix was left in magnetic sand at the bottom of a dressed novena candle, burned with semi-romantical intentions ("think of me" was the goal.) The penis-and-testicles were left in the remains of two separate business-related candles burned side by side on the same day.

When Granny taught me to 'read the leaves' a cross ment trouble ahead. Male genitalia represents the male creative or generative force. So, just from what you describe (and mind you it is difficult to do without being there to actually see the leaves) .... I would say you are going to have difficulty with a 'father-figure' OR there is an 'artsy' or creative male in your life headed for serious problems. Sorry, but that is the best I can do with what you gave. Hope it helps! :)

A cross is a trouble or difficulty which may be overcome through great effort or by endurance. I'm not sure of a crucifix - I would have to see it - but that may actually mean someone who will enter the catholic church. As for the genitalia; if it is erect then success in dealing with the difficulty, if not - then that may actually -be- the difficulty to overcome.
Much may depend on how close these were to the handle of the cup or where they appeared in the cup. Is one 'beneath' the other? The one beneath is the cause or foundation for the one above perhaps? Are they on opposite sides? Perhaps one balances/battles the other...
The art of tea reading is in connecting the symbols not just memorizing the meanings. It's like a language - a dictionary is not going to explain the sentence - you need to learn the grammar and relationships between the nouns as well to understand it.

Tasseography (also known as tasseomancy or tassology) is a divination or fortune-telling method that in western traditions interprets patterns in tea leaves. The term also refers to the reading of coffee grounds, especially in the Middle Eastern tradition, or the reading of wine sediments.
Cleromancy is another form of divination which consists of the casting of lots whether with sticks, stones, bones, beans, or some other item. Modern playing cards and board games developed from this type of divination.
