My son told me recently that you can play Nintendo gameboy games on the Game Cube. I never knew this.

Do you need a special adapter or can you just play them with purchase of base console?

Also, does the Nintendo 64 come with an adapter to play the Gameboy games?

I got one recently, it's about 19.99 depending where you get it now. It's nice being able to play games on the "big" screen.

Additional answer:
No, there is a connector for Pokemon>Pokemon stadium, but you can't play games with it. The other system that had an adapter was the old super Nintendo, it played game boy color and original games, the one for the gamecube plays everything up to advance, excluding motion sensing games (as shacking your gamecube around isn't the best idea)

You have to buy a special adapter that connects to the base of the Game Cube. We payed around $40 - $50 dollars for it a couple of years ago.

You need to buy the gameboy player for the gamecube. Used to run about $49.99 but not sure now. You can check www.gamestop.com and just type in "Gameboy Player". Should get you what you need.

Also, the gameboy player attaches to the bottom of the Gamecube, and then you stick the Gameboy games into that unit. It's pretty cool. I used to have the one they made for the SNES.
