What is up with movie director John Hughes and Chicago?

Are all his films related in some way to Chicago? Why is he so in love with Chicago?

They usually are and it's because he grew up on the outskirts of Chicago in suburbs. I love that he always uses a cute neighborhood in Illinois somewhere.
