Yes, they ahve definately been mentioned here as I have replied to a number of questions myself. Love the Smiths, and always have loved them. Its a shame they split up, as I don't really like Morrisey's solo stuff apart from a couple of tunes. I lived through the Smiths period, and every single / album release was a highlight for me. The best obviously being "The Queen Is Dead". My all time favourite song is "The Headmaster Ritual", but I love all their other stuff equally, "There is a light..." "What She Said" "How Soon Is Know" etc. God, this has brought back great memories

My guess would be yes people do still listen to The Smiths. Some of the answers you have received already appear to back up this assumption.

I have one of their albums; don't listen to it much.
They're actually becoming quite popular again with teens... I think there was some kind of annoyance among long time Smiths fans because even Hilary Duff mentioned liking them or Morrissey. They're quite "in" to like.

Like every day. I love I know it's over and Last Night I dreamt.... and also the album Hatful of Hollow... sheer genius! Most of my mates also have their ipods stacked full....
So yes... we all listen the Smiths still.. it will never date.
1st answerer is so wrong... not depressing, extremely dry sarcasm, that was the genius of Morrissey and Marr.

Wow. The Smiths- I have some of their songs on my IPod. The problem with their music is that it is so depressing. I have to be in a mood to listen to them.

I still listen to their CDs occasionally. When making our annual road trip home at Christmas, my friend and I always listen to some Smiths and Morrissey CDs.

yes. a lot of people do. the smiths are classic. but the songs wouldnt be half as great if Morrissey hadn't song them. Morrissey is awesome. Only he could sing a song called "I have forgiven Jesus" and not have the world mad at him.

Just listened to the songs "Big Mouth Strikes Again" & "Sheila Take a Bow" over the weekend!! Good band in their day!!

Yup. Still got a large selection of their tunes on my HD which get an airing every so often.
