Yes, its spelt Phenergan (I'm looking at the bottle as I type lol), and I've used it myself on occasions to help my kids back into a normal sleeping pattern after an illness. Its not recommended for very young children, only children over 2 years old, and its also used for allergies and travel sickness. It does work, but you can only use it for a short period of time (no more than a week) and you should be able to buy it at any pharmacists. If its a real persistant problem with her sleeping and she's younger than 2, I'd consult your doctor, but for the use that I employ it for (general settling back into regular sleep patterns) and she's over 2, I'd highly reccommend it =)
I have 6 children and have never had a problem using it as directed, no reactions etc.

It's a medicine for travel sickness, you can buy it in any chemist. It's not recommended for use on babies under two years old though. It does send most kids to sleep but not all - my nephew is one of the ten percent that it sends hyper active and has the opposite effect upon!! I only ever used it once with my eldest when we were travelling by coach to Ireland (an overnight trip) and it worked a treat, she slept all the way!! I know loads of people who swear by it. If you are desperate for some sleep it might be worth a try as one off but don't start to rely on it. As with all medication it should be used with caution. My sister's doctor recommended it for her son (the one who went sky high!!) so that she could get some sleep but it didn't quite work out that way!! Doctor's used to recommend it all the time 15 years or so ago but they don't anymore. Also I think it's spelt with a 'ph' but I might be wrong.

Well there is a Phenergan (pronounced Fen-Er-Gan), we give it as an antiemetic to post op patients. It works very well and it's very sedating, like benedryl, it puts people right out. But I can't imagine a pediatrician would prescribe this for a child. It's a prescription drug, I don't know if it's found over the counter - maybe in antihistamines? So yeah, works great but dangerous when given IV, I don't know about orally... I've had to give people Narcan after using it (they nearly stopped breathing). I wouldn't use it on a child.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

What you are thinking of is Phenergan. It is available in tablet and liquid form. It is commonly used for motion sickness. It can be used to aid sleep. It was used a lot for that many years ago but doctors are reluctant to prescribe it as it has been associated with cot death. You can buy it over the counter but I would advise use with caution. I certainly would not give it to my daughters. I have had may sleepless nights with why twins but have never been tempted to use it. Ask yourself this are you considering using it so YOU can get a good nights sleep or your daughter? You don't say how old she is or why she is having trouble sleeping but my best advice is warm bath, warm milk, and a good bedtime routine.

Phenergan is a powerful antihistamine, used also for sedation. It's NOT a harmless little potion to give a small baby.... Honestly, the things people do to their little babies is a bit scary.
Do not give a small baby this medicine unless on doctor's orders - it can have very nasty side effects.
Never take advice about medicines from well-intentioned friends - they don't know what they're talking about. Always check any medications - even over the counter ones - with your doctor before giving them to your baby.

It's Phenergan. It's an anti-nausea, etc, medicine. It has a side-effect of drowsiness, but you shouldn't give it to your daughter to help her sleep. I don't think medications are good for children as sleep aides. I used to have Phenergan because I was very sick. I had a script for 60 pills plus 5 refills. I thought I was going to become addicted b/c it was hard for me to sleep WITHOUT those after I took them for awhile (for nausea.). I really don't recommend using it for a child just for sleep. You should never medicate a child just to help them sleep...that's teaching them bad habits. I would talk to a doctor to see what your other alternatives are. Also, you have to have a prescription for Phenergan.

yes i have heard of it. you must have a prescription and no i would not give it to any baby. you would not want the baby to sleep through feeding times, babies have a tendency to sleep for just a couple of hours at a time until they are a couple of month old. I feel that medications should not be given to babies unless it is very necessary and recommended by a reliable pediatrician introducing a baby to medicines now can cause them to develop immunities to them in the future when they need them.

My cousin was a pharmasist at boots, phenergan can be in liquid form or tablet form I was given it for an allergy rash on prescription, but was able to buy it for my baby over the counter. It's more of a antihistermine than anything else but can be used to subdue baby a bit. It doesnt work, gave it to my son for hayfever one summer and he didn't sleep all night.
BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
