Shoot the dog or the lion?
If the dog was seriously hurt and suffering then yes.
If I saw the lion stalking my dog, horse, cows, or kids I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it.
P.S. After I had to shoot my dog then I would hunt that lion to the ends of the earth.

You should call the police or animal control or both about the mountain lion.. As far as it attacking your dog I am pretty sure if you shot it if it was coming after your pet that you are justified in killing it and for heaven sakes make sure you and your kids aren't the ones being stalked they also attack humans...
We have them here to and most of the time they are caught and released elsewhere but if you feel threathened in any way you can shoot it... A few have been shot here and while everybody agrees that they are such a beautiful and rare animal that your saftey has to come first including your pets...

One time I saw something like this on t.v. and the couple videoed
the animal being on the propertie then called the animal controll
and told them if it was not removed they would shoot it and they came out and gave it medicine to sleep till they found the proper place to put it in the wild. But if it was right there when my kids are
trying to get on and off the bus and it even acts like it is going to attack you all I would have no problem shooting it it is self defence.

Well, tranquilizing it would be ideal, but it's not like we all have handy dandy tranquilizer darts lying around, eh? So, I regrettfully advise you to shoot it. If your children are only in immediate danger though. If it is not a threat, then I would call someone. But dont move back to the city with the crackheads!

I may be wrong, but.. I'm pretty sure if you catch the lion attacking your dog that it is legal to shoot it... something about protecting a family member or your property...

That mountain lion would definitely be vulture food if I was there. Also, I would stay right where you are because its easier to "get rid of" wild animals than it is to get rid of wild people.

in most states it is legal to protect yourself, family or property. i would call your local fish and game dept. if you do shoot, be sure you make a killing shot. you don't want to just piss a mountain lion off.

When we move into an animals territory the animal does what comes naturally to it.
If we don't want to be attacked we shouldn't live where they've always lived.
