The Yankees still haven't addressed their biggest area of concern, the starting pitching. If the only move they make is to sign the Jap, they will have a good regular season and they will lose in the playoffs, as has become there way the last few years.
As far as making good moves, so far, I like the Tigers re-signing Casey and picking up Sheffield. I like the Cubs re-signing Wade Miller, Aramis Ramirez and even Kerry Wood. I love them signing Soriano and even Mark DeRosa, the trade for Neil Cotts will be a nice move for them too. I think those 2 have done the most at this time......however it is still early, there are a lot of good players unsigned still and there are bound to some trades made at the Winter meetings.
With all that being said, my 3 as of right now are:
Detroit Tigers
Chicago White Sox
New York Mets
The one thing you will notice is that I took teams that had good pitching staffs. On paper, these 3 are there for now. Of course, you will have to wait and see how players perform. Will Verlander suffer from the sophmore jinx? Will Kenny Rogers be as effective? Did Marcus Thames, Brandon Inge, Craig Monroe all have "career" years? Will Todd Jones get the job done closing? Will the White Sox learn to score other ways than 3 run HRs? Will the Mets stay healthy or be healthy at the end of the year? Will the Yankees improve the pitching staff? What is Boston gonna do besides try to sign the Jap? Will the Cubs really sign Jason Schmidt, Cliff Floyd ? When will the Angels get moving with their money or on trades? How will Minnesota cope this year without Liriano? Who will step up on their pitching staff? Will all their young pitchers still be effective? Can Cleveland's pitching staff be more effective so that when their offense lights up the scoreboard they win rather than lose high scoring games? There is a long time between now and opening day and there are a few teams with the money or surplus in pitching talent that can make moves in that time period to change things around. I am anxious to see how the rest of the winter plays out!

Its hard to say. I don't think any of the teams making the big deals will really be a big factor. The cubs will be way better but that is not saying much. They are throwing tons of money around but havent landed a desparately needed legit starting pitcher. And do they really think Soriano can play center?!?! And they better hope they save some $ for next year when big Z is a free agent. THe Astros signed woody williams but that doesnt make up for possibly losing pettite and clemens. And Carlos Lee is getting pretty fat....
My Picks
1. Cardinals (If they sign one more good pitcher)
2. White Sox (only team with starting pitching surplus)
3. Mets (bringing back glavine was huge, and I like Alou for a year.)

Schilling, Beckett, Matsuzaka, Papelbon, Wakefield
Is a pretty healthy rotation, Ortiz, maybe Manny, Drew ..
Its a pretty good playoff team.
What about the Marlins?
Willis, Olsen, Johnson, Sanchez etc..
White Sox.
That lineup with that pitching
They will be back in 2007
