Question:
A car travels 220 mi in 4 h. Find the unit rate.

Several people said 55 mph but that can't be. There is a weird formula that is done to solve this. Not just 220 divided by 4.

First person to give a reasonable answer will get best answer.

220 over 4 = x over 1

220(1) = 4x

220 divided by 4 = x

x = 55

the unit rate is 55 over 1, or 55.

Yeah, it looks like pretty simple division, to me.

rate x time = distance

R x 4 hours = 220 miles
R = 220 divided by 4
R = 55

The formula for the unit rate is distance divided by the time. So unit rate=220 miles/4hrs=55mph
Check out the website, it gives u the equation.

He was going 551/2 miles an hour. Just do 55.5 times 4= 220 I hope this is right.

Distance= Rate times Time

220=r over 4

Multiply each side by 4 to clear the fraction.

There's your answer.

I am probably not right...lol...but I figured you go about a mile a minute doing the speed limit
I took 60min x 4hours and you should have gone 240 miles in that time...all depends on the speed you are traveling

Can you give us the section that you are working from? Like look back in the chapter and give us the title of what kind of work you are doing so I know which formula to use.
