Because it keeps people out of trouble. Whe you think about it, most people seems to regret their actions after talking drugs. Drug influence can lead you into killing, reckless driving that may lead to fatal accidents, some of these are actions that may come back to hunt us if we kill a person simply because of drugs. We might be imprisoned for a long time or even receive capital punishment for our action.

Is this your homework?
Anyway, it's important to be drug-free for several reasons. The most obvious is that it is damaging to your health. Depending on the drug, any of the following could happen. Your liver can die; your brain cells die; your skin breaks out in disgusting rashes and sores; your teeth rot; your heart can stop; your respiratory system can shut down; your nervous system can go haywire; your judgement is impaired; you can become impotent or barren; if you are pregnant, it can physically and mentally damage your baby; you can pass out or overdose; and, of course there is a whole lot more. Those are some of the physical results.
Also, drugs are addicting, which causes you to lose control of your life. Instead of being free to make your own choices and think things through clearly, you are a slave to your drugs. All other aspects of life become unimportant to you and you become just a "junkie" with no real reason to live. You can become homeless, eating out of dumpsters and off donations. Or you could make your money from prostituting or stealing. You can be arrested for drug possession, drug use, drug dealing, etc. You can lose your friends and family who don't want to deal with the problems you are causing. Being homeless brings another whole set of problems which would be a separate essay.
These are just the things I can think of off the top of my head.
As for violence, many of the same problems come with it that come with drugs. Of course, those who are involved in the violence would most likely retaliate, causing you bodily harm. You can be arrested for assault, battery, weapons charges, etc. If you are involved in gang violence there are all of the gang politics which go along with that. Of course there is much more, but truthfully, I'm a little tired of typing.
A big reason not to do either of these things is that you cannot be truly happy when you are involved in them. You would feel depressed, discouraged, worthless, guilty, ashamed, helpless, lost, lonely, etc. Who wants a life like that?
Good Luck!

Once you get into drugs it is hard to get out of it. Eventually you can become irrational and start selling stuff just to get the money for a fix. You might end up coming in late to work because you were busy trying to find your next hookup that your buddy swore would have the stuff, only to find out you have to go to another buddy and that guy has to wait for the dealer to show up at his house. Then you're late to work because you spent all that time looking for your fix.
Eventually your quality of life isn't as great as it could have been because you can't hold down a job and your money is constantly going towards drugs. Even if you can manage to try to keep a balance, it will be there controlling you. You will always have drugs in your system contributing to how you act/react.
Also, if you get in trouble with the law you could be shooting yourself in the foot for future opportunities, as well as jail time.
If you get into violence, then when/if you get married and your wife and kids make you made, you are likely to react with violence and it's harder to control your temper.
Just a few points.

Staying out of violence is a good idea but I don't see the importance in being drug free. Almost everyone takes some sort of drug.

Violence and drug using behavior inevitably lead you to the judicial system and jail, and if your value system leads you to the conclusion that this is a not very productive way to conduct your life, I would say it would rank as important. Additionally, ANY conviction will keep you out of many of the more lucrative professions where licensure/certification is required.

Well...
1.) I don't want to fry my brain, I enjoy being intelligent. Jail isn't all that appealing either, remember, drugs are against the law.
2.) I don't think that violence is appropriate unless absolutely needed. But of course if someone insists....

i agree with the violence part (it's pointless and typically leads to getting your *** kicked some day)
now drugs have done some good things for us. they broaden our minds and show us happiness is just a chemical.

Well, I learned it the hard way. Listen or not, you make your own bed, you know? I suggest you be cool--stay cool--- and keep your usage down to a minimum.
