If you're having sex, it's possible to get pregnant. No form of birth control except abstinence is 100% effective. Even those with really high rates do fail from time to time. Depo has a 97% effective rate which means that it has a 3% fail rate.

Depo-provera is approximately 97% effective. Therefore, there is a small chance that you could become pregnant while on the shot. However, it is unlikely as long as you continue to get your shot at the prescribed intervals, not allowing time to lapse in between doses. There are some medications that can make Depo-provera less effective. Therefore, always ask your physician or pharmacist prior to taking any new medications.
