I think it sounds stupid but it is the name my partner wants for a baby. I want to call the baby Moolican (after Moolican Jones the 17th century ship builder) but my partner thinks Moolican sounds a bit too old for a baby.
So what do you think? Bogrone or Moolican?

I think they both sound hideous, no offence. Picking a baby name is tricky, but make sure you give them a name that you would be happy with being called yourself. Make sure that it isn't something that the child will be made fun over, (can you imagine if she was named MOOlican and became overweight?) and something that other people will be able to pronounce, if not have a vague idea as to whether the name is male or female. There's nothing wrong with unusual names, just pick ones that your baby can someday carry with pride.

you realise the baby will be called 'bog-roll' for the rest of it's life and will hate you so much that he will make your life a misery?

I don't mean to offend, but I am assuming this question is a joke, if, by some bizarre twist, it isn't, please don't give your child a 'unique and individual name' along the lines of the ones suggested, they won't thank you for it. Giving a name is a responsibilty, not a hobby! you don't have to be boring and predictable, but there are much better name out there than bog roll and Hooligan (this is what they will be called at School, trust me, I have a plain name and kids still managed to make me miserable by messing about with it, all through school, nightmare)

depends on the degree of bullying your willing to accept when he/she is at school, I think I would rather be called Moo then Bog because I think a cow association is better then a toilet one. But seriously the child wont thank you for it and when he/she hits 18 they will change it an undo all your hard work so just give a name that won't guarantee head flushings for the entire school life.

Neither! Why would you want to name a poor baby a name that would guarantee the child would be made fun of for all of its life?

Sounds like a mean thing to do to the poor thing!

Excuse me - you're not just naming a baby, you're naming a person. This person is going to have that name forever. Try to pick one that isn't going to get the kid beaten up at school, that isn't going to embarrass the kid as a teenager, then you'll do fine. But to be honest, so far I'm thinking you're zero for two...

I hate to sound mean, but for the babies sake i would pick neither or just make them the middle names. I hope you understand bc children can be really cruel and your child is going to have to spend the rest of his life explaining to everyone why his name is what it is.

Those names are unique but do you really want to call your baby by those names. If so why not combine them. Like a first name and a middle name.

Do you love your child?
Do you wish them bullied later on in life?
Have some compassion.

Choose more mainstream names for the first name.
And maybe one of the others for a second name.

Your child could end up being called 'Bog' meaning 'toilet' in the Uk, or 'Moo' meaning 'Cow' He or she could be bullied over a names like those, which would you like to be known as? none I think.

Neither one.

But if HAVE to choose I would go with Bogrone. For me, at least, it sound like italian aristocratic name.
