My mistake, I needed to be more specific. Santa Claus as in St. Nicholas.

Santa Claus is from the arctic, the North Pole. Nobody lives up there besides him, Mrs. Claus, the elves, and raindeer.

St. Nicholas on the other hand was at one time a bishop in present day Turkey, so I believe he was from that country.
