Ska came first, possibly as early as the 50s, followed by reggae in the 60s. Both originated in Jamaica.

Ska came first but reggae followed soon after. Both originated in the Caribbean by mixing traditional and modern musics.

Ska was definately before reggae. It's been around for as good as 50 years or so. It became very popular again in late 70's- early 80's.

Well, I first became aware of Reggae 'way back' in the 80's... and it wasn't new then... so, I'd say it's Reggae... and then I went and proved myself WRONG... ska came first and, according to wikipedia (see links below) was the precursor of reggae... who knew???
