when i open up My Computer my dvd rom drive isn't listed. but when i put in a cd i can play those games installed on my computer that require the disk to run. so apparently its reading the cd but isn't showing up on My Computer. i am trying to install new software but auto run won't work and when i go to add remove programs i have to select the cdrom drive but like i said. it isn't showing up anywhere. whats wrong? what should i do?

A setting has changed some how. try this program from Microsoft, It should fix the problem.

There's a good chance that the driver for the drive is fouled up. What often works is to go to the Device Manager in Windows, right click on the drive listing, and choose "Uninstall". After it's gone, reboot the pc and Windows should "see" the drive as "New hardware" and re-install the driver for it. That ought to then show it under the drives in My Computer. Good luck.
