where can i get a guage to measure how much propane I have left in my tank for my grill?

I went to Home Depot but they don't have one.

Propane weighs about 4 lbs per gallon. On a 5 gallon bottle you will add 20 lbs to the Tare Weight (tw). If you look on the side of your bottle, it will have the tare weight (empty weight) of the bottle. It is usually 16 to 18 lbs. If your bottle has a t.w. of 18 lbs, your bottle will weight 38 lbs when its full. Use a set of bathroom scales to determine how much you got left in them.

The problem with a pressure guage, is that it only measure the pressure in the tank. Propane pressure will flux according to temperature. The only true way to tell is by weight.

There are no gauges for the size tanks traditionally used for grills (20 lbs or about 4 gallons). A pressure gauge will only tell you that it is empty. What you need is called a dip gauge, and you will have to go to a much larger tank called a 'pig' which is an 80 gallon tank to have provisions for a dip gauge.

If you want to check the level, turn the tank at a 45 degree angle, pour some hot liquid down the upper side and then level the tank. Those stick on gauges work on the same principal.
Alternatively, next time you have the tank filled, weigh it. When you need to know the remaining amount, weigh it again.
Liquid Propane weighs 4.24 lbs per gallon.

LP tanks can only be filled to 80% of their rated capacity. So for example, a 100 gallon tank can never contain more than 80 gallons of propane, this is to allow for expansion.

Propane is a liquified petroleum gas, therfore it expands to create more vapor (or pressure), therefore a pressure guage will not let you know the amount of propane that is remaining except when a propane bottle is getting so low that it is ready to run out. Try purchasing the new Lite Cylinder that is completely see-thru.

I have never seen an actual Gage for propane. I have seen things that weigh the tanks and strips that stick onto the tank that tell where the gas level is but never an actual Gage.

anyplace that sells tanks of gas; oxygen, acetylene etc. will sell you a guage. You can buy a strip that goes onto you tank that will indicate how much gas you have left.

Contact the propane company from which you bought your tank. They should be able to tell you where to purchase the gauge.

I WOULD TELEPHONE DIFFERENT HARDWARE STORES LIKE SEARS/ACE/ETC. AND ASK THEM? SAVE A TRIP JUST CALL. TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE RIGHT AWAY TAKE A METAL TOOL LIKE A WRENCH OR SCREWDRIVER AND TAP THE SIDE FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP. IT'S NOT GOING TO GIVE YOU AN ACCURATE READING LIKE A GAGE, BUT IT'S A GOOD ESTIMATION OF WHETHER IT'S A FULL TANK OR NOT. THE TONE TELLS ALL.

This isn't scientific,but when the grill is on put your hand on the tank.Where the propane level is will be cold.Hope this helps!
