I sent it 5 days ago and I phoned up and they said it is officially lost after 2 more days, If this is the case, can I claim any kind of compensation?

yes if its recorded and they lost it call Royal Mail or go to the post office and they will give you the claim forms, you have to wait up to 14 days first before you can make a claim though

Hi >
Your previous answers are mostly okydokys.
If the thing was a recorded delivery, and has not been recorded as received within a few days, then the mail company owe you, and are under law to compensate in full
If it was paid for by a credit card, then you ring them up and claim a full refund. They must do so.
At a push, you could say that the item burst into flames. Then claim on your house insurance, But I doubt that would work.
Anyway, all the best with situation.

Recorded delivery means that someone has to sign for it at the other end so that if it goes missing the PO should be able to track it down.

Registered delivery insures the item you are sending and you can claim.
