Actually, British food has a poor reputatin all over Europe - not as nasty, but as boring. The British like that boring taste and it's their right.
I find Euopeans like Spanish and French put a tremendous emphasis on food.
However, you sound rather upset at someone. Has some American insulted your cooking lately? This means war! lol

Nasty British Food

Oh dear...waging war about food now?.....what next?......the British food is only boring, if thats how people cook, this statement dosent apply to all, because there are so many different cultures, and they dont all cook meat and two veg, or haggis for that matter, that belongs to Scotland.......I heard that Americans are what they call the fat nation, because of what they eat, like twinkies, and Mc Donalds, and other fast foods, but at the end of the day people eat what they want to eat....there is more than one type of food out there, and really no reason for anyone to get worked up over this, there is enough war in the world.... why start another one? it's just another reason to start another personal war, let it go.

I think that "British Food" is a bit of a misnomer - there's really no such thing. What we do have across our islands is some fine regional foods, some superb fresh local produce and some great restaurants to eat it in. In addition we also have the widest variety of international cuisine anywhere. In London alone there is a virtually unlimited choice - every one of the world's great cuisines is represented.

In America there is also fine food - but I agree that the average Yank eats too many burgers and is pretty indiscriminate in their eating habits! In the better restaurants the portions are obscene - try and get a sensibly sized steak in New York!

I think you answered your own question. It kind of defeats the purpose of asking if you are going to go on a tangit about fat Americans. There are also fat british people, if you haven't noticed.

We are not the only country that likes food. All countries take pride in their food. All countries have McDonalds, too.

Americans tend not to like british food because you often don't cook with spices. That doesn't mean everyone in Britain doesn't cook with spices, but many people I know from Britain do not. And the restaurants I've been to in England don't use too many spices. Americans cook with spices.

It's just a preference. Do not take it personally. You obviously don't like American fast food, which is your right; and thus, it is the right of Americans not to like british food.

Relax my friend, I am an open minded person and look forward to an upcoming trip to London, including the delicacies. Americans like certain tastes in their meals, and this may extend to most of Europe, but Britain has been the maverick in many areas to the rest of the world, and more power to her! Americans like powerful flavors in their food, mainly salt, and I think British food does not have the amounts of salt, or the same way it is cooked in order to bring it out, than what we are used to.

I'm not American but there seems to be a class system with food as well as people. Somone said that rich people don't eat food until it's 'off'. Hence, things like wine. When i use to deliver mail in the west end of london there use to be a pheasant hanging on the doors of almost every adress, it'd been there for days.

Actually, I don't believe I've ever eaten any British food so I couldn't tell you whether or not I think it's nasty.

You sound quite disgruntled though. You have an obvious dislike of Americans.

Personally, I'd like to visit England someday and learn more about different cultures. Don't worry though. If I didn't like England, I wouldn't stay. By the way, where are your manners?

P.S. I don't eat donuts. Don't believe all stereotypes you hear.

I'm sorry to break the news to you my British friend, but really let's be honest. Who really wants to eat a full English breakfast and later some haggis for supper? I think they cater better food in communist jails. Who ever says; mmmmmm I'm having some of that delicious eel pie?

One thing is certain.....British chocolate is the best!!

Americans think British food is nasty because that is not the food they are use to eating.
