Michigan was completely ROBBED!!!
The first answer in this question is completely off. OSU beat them by 3 POINTS, they didn't kick their butts. The only reason it's UF, is because they had a hard schedule, they played 2 more games, they won their conference and people don't want a rematch. But, UF will get CRUSHED by OSU, while Michigan lost by a mere 3 points, and the game was at Ohio State. The fact that Michigan lost their conference means nothing, because guess who they lost it to: Ohio State. Florida played 2 more games because their conference has a conference championship. You can't penalize Michigan because there's no conference championship! The only one that makes sense is that Florida had a harder schedule. But still, after all those reasons, it should definitely be Michigan vs. Ohio State.

I hate the BCS, but to all the Michigan fans out there shocked and complaining just remember your team is a member of one of the conferences who started the BCS, who promoted the BCS, who was all for the BCS. You are also a member of a confernce that does not have a championship game, you will always get penalized for that.
The only solution is a playoff. the NCAA and the BCS schools need to suck it up and not fear the change. There are plenty of good options out there for a playoff. My personal favorite is to knock the regular season back to 11 games, have a 16 team playoff, take the 8 D1 conference champions, and then 8 at large teams. You could still have other bowl games for teams that didn't make the playoff and what are now the bcs bowl games could rotate the championship game and the last round. It would also finish the same time the bowl games do now. It might shorten some of the bowl festivities, which is the only valid reason I've heard for not having a playoff, but you could still have 3 good days of festivities, with one day of rest for the team, and one day for travel, and most of the playoffs would happen during the schools semester breaks anyways.

There is a few things that did it for Michigan, One Coaches voted not to have a rematch against OSU, Two Florida won in the Best Conf. in College Football and Michigan played in not so Big 10, Three Michigan had their shot at BCS Title Game, but lost to OSU and didn't win their conf. so it is OSU vs. UF and the way the system is setup that past few years the BCS left out a few teams that desevre to go, but haven't.

I am a huge Michigan fan. I watched the entire Ucla vs Usc game. When Ucla pulled off the upset I was so elated because I thought we got screwed when Usc took ove the #2 spot even thought hey lost to OSU. Thats Oregon State University. I never thought this would happen.
Michigan got penalized for not playing an extra game. Florida was .054 points behind Michigan in the BCS how was this possible. When they annonced Florida would be playing Ohio State for the national championship I became sick to my stomach. This is the worst match up in probably bowl history. Florida should have lost to Tennesee, should have lost to South Carolina, struggled against Vandy who we completely dominated, didnt look the best against Arkansas. If not for a huge misake by Arkansas that game could have went the other way. They also didnt look good against a very banged up sub par Florida State team. to answer your question the BCS didnt want to see Michigan vs Ohio State again. What if Michigan wins the game then Ohio State who split with Michigan loses the national championship, or we have a split national champion again. Is that fair. That would really jack things up. They dont want to admit we need a playoff and the BCS doesnt work. Do you think people really voted for a Florida vs Ohio State matchup. Open your eyes. Look at the election with the absentee ballots in Florida that gave George Bush the presidency?

Florida won their conference and Michigan did not. It should be a requirement to win your conference to play in the National Title Game. And, yes, the Big 10 should have a championship game.

We do not need a rematch of the Big Ten game for the National Championship. Florida was lucky enough to win on Saturday.

Because Florida was voted #2. That's how voting works, that's why it was implemented. No matter if you hate George Bush or you love him, the people voted for him, so you accept him, and accept what the people want. Sure, the voters for the BCS are a narrower selection of people, but they're the ones educated in football, so I trust their decision. If you're a fan of democracy, you shouldn't question the voting of Florida.

because it is the national championship game, not the big 10 championship game. The BCS doesn't want two team from the same conference playing for the championship.
