Considering that red and green or traditional holiday colors for the Christmas season, either or a combination would be acceptable.

Gold, silver and ivory are all great colors for the season though, and can make an attractive look for you.

If this is for a business function, for ladies, a v-neck top should not be lower cut than the second buttonhole from the neck of a man's button-down shirt.

If this is for general friends and family, I would advise that you wear something that would be comfortable in and not clingy.

I guess it depends on where you're going. If you've got a fancy dinner or something like that, you should probably go with a nice dress or skirt in a jewel tone like deep garnet (maroon) or emerald green. I also think that black dresses with gold or silver jewelry are simple and classic. If you're just going to hang out at home with family, jeans and a sweater is fine. I guess it also depends on how seriously your family takes the whole thing. My family just wears jeans or whatever because we don't really care about formality, but other families would probably get all bent out of shape if you showed up for Christmas dinner in jeans and a top. Also, I think it's nice to wear something you received as a gift- like for instance, if you and your family exchanged Christmas presents on Christmas Eve and someone gave you a top or a sweater, you may want to wear it the very next day (even if you sort of hate it) to show the person how much you appreciate their gift.

well depends where you're gonna go.. here are some places and what outfits would go well when you go there:

home: pajamas and a cozy blanket (of course!!)
Church: a red dress with a red jacket and red or black high heels and Christmas earrings
friend's house: a Christmas shirt or a red shirt and a fun Christmas sweater, Christmas earrings or winter earrings, and jeans... but try to look kind of elegant at the same time, and not slacking off

but you should go to Church on Christmas...

As a family, we always wear PJs. My wife and daughters normally wear Flannel two-piece, The rest of us wear men's two piece. It is nice for pictures. We do take a lot of pictures. I normally pass out the gifts and my wife takes MOST of the pictures. Our grandson will be here this year and I can not wait to see his expressions! A two-year-old can not fully understand what it is all about yet... Have a great Christmas no matter what you wear!

Haha where are you going? If it's at home, jam in the jammies. What else? Why would you change if you're staying at home?!? If you're going out, where a nice pair of jeans, and a shirt that expresses x-mas spirit, and your personality at the same time. If you're staying in but have people coming, where something cute and a bit casual but not too fancy. Hope this helps. =)

I'd agree with opyankees' answer.

On the other hand, if you are entertaining guests or planning on going to chuch, then wear something a bit more modest.

i always do black. just because thats what my wardrobe mostly is. and i would be caught dead in red and green together. you should do black with an accent of red or green or silver (get my drift) so people won't think your like going goth or something.
