Based on previous US Supreme Court decisions, I would have to say no. In the 1970s, a man named Alan Bakke sued the UC system because he was twice denied acceptance to the UC Davis medical school, and it turned out that he was denied because UC Davis needed to meet quotas for admitting minorities. The Supreme Court struck this down as being unconstitutional. In the same manner, these school districts are moving children around in order to meet quotas for diversity. Based on the UC v. Bakke decision, the school district is wrong here.
However, in 2003, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the University of Michigan law school (Grutter v. Bollinger) in saying that race/ethnicity can be used when considering admissions, but their affirmative action program was not based on quotas. At the same time this case was being heard, a second lawsuit (Gratz v. Bollinger) was heard concerning a points-based system in the undergraduate college, and this was struck down as being unconstitutional. An important part of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's majority opinion was that the affirmative action program used for admissions to the law school should be eliminated as soon as possible.
Basically, this means that when a school is presented with two equal applications, the minority should be picked. On the other hand, if a white applicant is much better qualified, the applicant cannot be denied in favor of a lower-qualified black, Hispanic, or other minority.

That is a good question. There is actually a court case going on right now that is dealing with that. I personally think that it is a good thing for kids to be exposed to different races. In the court case, a kid was denied acceptance to a school that was only a block away from his house. It will be up to the Supreme Court to deside its fate.

college directors have become an increasing style of forced to insure that each physique academic time is definitely crammed with coaching. while a instructor chooses to take the class on a field holiday, he/she would desire to complete some fairly long types describing in super factor the point of the holiday. the academic standards and goals would desire to be nicely defined. Now that the colleges are below hearth for extremely very nearly each element they do, possibly this instructor desires to make effective that fogeys are attentive to the educational value. or possibly she has had her fill of all this ridiculous paperwork and is only being a smarta**!

one should go to school in his own area, and when the Friday night game comes around the the kids can be proud of where they are from and can work to make their neighborhood a good place to be from. One needs to be able to be proud of who he is and where he is from. The Dixie Chicks needed that lesson.

no way, racial discrimination is not right. No matter what color skin we are, we should be able to get the education we deserve. Personally it has never happened to me, but if it did i would be so angry i'd probably sue. -----> maybe not waste my OWN money, but tell some other person to. lol. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!

I think its wrong. You should go to school where you live. You should not be bussed miles away, passing up several other schools, because they want to balance diversity. Go to school where you live.
