Well, first, I'd suggest spelling trial right.

I agree with the above; discuss its inclusion in the English Bill of Rights and this document's influence on the people's right to a fair trial in America. Mention that England's refusal to give many colonial protestors unfair trials was listed as a distress in the Declaration of Independence, and it was one of the founding things of our nation. Focus on that. Mention the Miranda warning and discuss legal processes in trial.

http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/ftrials.htm Browse through this list and find trials that are considered controversial because of their unfairness. I would use the Scottsboro Trial.

If you're going to use literature, you might use To Kill a Mockingbird and "The Trial" by Kafka.

I would try to find information about ancient perspectives on this right. I didn't really look, but that site might have some good information. I would focus on the Greeks, as much of what they did affects us today.

Look for information on the similar passage in the constitution, which allows every man 'due process' of the law. You could include the history of that amendment coming into being, especially if there was any resistence to it becoming an amendment. To flesh out the paper you can include people who were, for one reason or another, unlawfully denied that right (or arguably lawfully, depending on who you ask, like many 'residents' of the prison for terrorists in Guantanamo Bay).
