Fun how the world works. I have lived in Mansfield for three years and in DFW for 34. I just had to relocate to Houston.

Mansfield in my opinion is one of the nicest areas in the DFW metroplex. The city is growing fast. The population is close to 80,000 with more roof tops going up every year. The leadership in the city is committed to developing a beautiful city. The zoning laws are strict and keep everything looking sharp. I noticed in Houston, no zoning laws exist.

The school system is great. In the last five year they have added 2 5A high schools and have in the plans to add 2 more by 2009. It is very much a family oriented community. The reason that my wife and I moved to Mansfield was to raise our kids in neighborhoods that were safe and had kids their age.

The one down size is taxes. You will pay for all of the schools being built. The good news is that property values are on the rise. I purchased a 2900 sq. foot home 3 years ago for 197k and it appraised this year for 220k.

Several restaurants are popping up and they are about to open a huge Methodist hospital that will only increase the value of property.

I am adjusting to life in Houston but love the Mansfield area and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Let me know if I can help in any other way.

wow. i grew up in Mansfield. it WAS a great town to grow up in and raise your children in. i raised my children there. every one knew every one else. the schools was great.my daughter had some of the same teachers that i had. I'm very sad to say that is not the way Mansfield is now. the schools are not so good any more. the roads and traffic is horrible. the drug rate is very high. tax rates go up every year on every thing. most of us old time residents have been priced out of Mansfield. if you make at least 100,000 a year then you might like living in Mansfield. oh by the way Mansfield just this year voted in beer and wine sells.

I go to school at UTA which is about 20 minutes from Mansfield. It's a nice suburban area. I can't vouch for the schools but it's your run of the mill safe, predominatly white (if that matters to you) suburban community.
