is the internet the matrix? I rec'd varying answers from yes to get a life. ok i'm just gonna throw this out and get some opinions: we
all know that the net is huge probably infinite in size and scope. I am fairly new to the internet and to be honest there are aspects of the internet that are at the very least subtely ominous. The net has replaced the television, radio, cd player, dvd player and has put a hurt on our postal system. You dont have to leave your home to purchase goods and services. Lonely? go online. Need a new car?
go online and it goes on and on. Now dont get me wrong. I am having fun with the internet but I cannot help but wonder can the internet exceed man's ability to control or has it already done that?

Good question. I believe the Internet through the aid of man will, if not stopped exceed man's ability to control. It is my considered opinion that the Internet has already gone too far. There's very little inter action between people already due to the Internet and it will only get worse. People already visit less (in person) than they did before the Internet. We no longer seem to need each other for any real communication other than to email someone. At some point in the maybe not too distant future we may get to the point we feel we no longer need to interact with any one else in most situations. That will be bad for those of us who appreciate people for who they are. Personally I like to make people laugh. That won't be possible if we rely entirely on the Internet for all situations.

Without humans the internet would have no function.
it can't order anything online for itself and it cannot repair itself.
it's just info sent through wires on the same premise as a phone or tv but on a much larger scale.

Although have you ever wondered what the BOTS in chatrooms talk about to each other when there are no humans in it?
oooh scary!
LOL
