Controlled explosion inside the rocket. The gasses form that explosion directed downwards makes a force that way. Newtons laws men that there is a force upwards on the rocket also which lifts it up.

In normal conditions, all bodies follow Newton's laws of motion and rockets are no different. As per Newton's Third law, every action has equal and opposite reaction. for example it u press hard on the table, it will exert and equal opposite force on you. So when you have a force which pushes the ground and since the ground cannot move, the object creating the force moves up in order to compensate. the liquid propellents in the rockets are combusted and hence a downward thrust is produced. this pushes the rocket up. if u wanted to know how it goes out of earth, there is concept called escape velocity, which is the minimum velocity at which an object has to travle in order to escape earth's gravity. The mathematical value of escape velocity is 11.2km per second. so if u can get an object at that speed, u can get out of earth. rocket achieve that speed and hence get out of the gravitational pull of the earth.

Well - if you mean what causes the rocket to lift off the ground?

The answer is that the amount of force generated by the 'engine', that pushes it up, overcomes the force of gravity that is pushing it down.

As to how the vinegar and baking soda engine works? That's for chemists to answer!... but it basically generates a load of gas that expands rapidly, which squeezes out the hole in the bottom at high pressure.

Once the force exerted by that gas stream gets big enough... whoosh!
