Assume that large, free earlobes are controlled by the dominant allele (F) & attached earlobes by the recessive allele (f). In addition, the ability to curl the tongue into a U shape is regulated by the dominant allele (T) & the recessive allele (t) produces NON tongue rolling condition. These genes are on separate chromosomes; hence they assort independently.
a- A woman who is a free-earlobed tongue roller marries a man who has attached earlobes and is a Non tongue roller. Their only child, a boy has attached earlobes & can't roll his tongue. What are the genotypes of his mother, his father, and the boy?
b- For the Above situation,Show a Punnett square for the mating of a male who is heterozygous for Both traits & a female who is homozygous recessive for both traits. What are the Genotypic & Phenotypic ratios of this mating?
---
I think I have to make a dihybrid with FT-Ft-fT-ft & I think the boy & dad- homozygous recess. & Mom= heterozygous.Idk how to show all of this though.

a- Idk if I'm on the right track for part a, and I'm beginning to confuse myself..
b- The genotypic & phenotypic ratios are confusing me because I made a dihybrid cross...I think the genotypic ratio is 9:16
and Idk about the Phenotypic one, I don't even know if I'm doing these right- this is so confusing! = (

Please explain these to me! I would really really appreciate it. Thank you! = )

free earlobes = F (dominant)
attached earlobes = f

T= curl (dominant)
t = can't curl

a) woman FfTt x man fftt

---> fftt (child)

b) Hard to draw a punnet square using only text, you will have to do this yourself, sorry

Male FfTt x female ffttt

You will get Fftt:FfTt:ffTt:fftt in a 1:1:1:1 ratio (genotypic ratio)
IN phenotypic ratio, it will be the same ratio,
Free, non-roll: Free, roll: attached,roll: attached,non-roll

To make the punnett square you make a square, on the top row write FT Ft fT tt in 4 squares. The on the left column write ft.
Now you can figure out the combos.
FfTt , Fftt, ffTt, fftt
