I was hired for part-time hours because I'm a college student. They knew this and i am very committed to school and it comes first. Well, some people quit and they started giving me more hours. that was fine at first I could use the extra money. But then I was up to full-time hours and going to school full-time- this was not what i wanted. I told my manager and she said that they only wanted people to work full-time from now on. i told her they needed to reduce my hours and she said no so I quit. My family was so mad I quit. But they don't support me financially and I have another job lined up. So should I have stuck it out and done school at the same time?

Seems to me that your former employer was rather stupid. They chose to let, a trained worker, go when they are in need of help rather than reduce her hours. You did just right. . .

I have done the college and full time work thing and it does not work well. I was a full time college student with a full time job, I got home from work at midnight or 1:00. My first class was at 7:00 AM, Yeah I failed that class because I rarely went, because I needed the time to sleep.

I think that they should have remebered that you only wanted part time and respected that. If you have another job, that is willing to work with your schedule, then it sounds like you are very responsible. You don't want to quit school.

If it is not what you want then no you did the right thing. I do the same thing I go to school full time and work part time. It's hard enough with a part time job to do school but a full time job is harder. If you think that your school work will suffer then its better to leave that job. You have another job that will accommodate you and your school schedule that's better. If your family isn't supporting you financially then they have no say in what you do with your career.

If you can afford to live on the new job and it meets your time scheduling needs with school, then you did fine. If your family does not support you, then it is your life. If you made a mistake, you will learn from it.

Move on with your life and enjoy.

No, I don't think you made a mistake. Sounds like you have your priorities in line and stuck with them--good for you! You'll get another job and your family will get over it.

No. Especially since you have another job lined up. This just happened to me, actually, and I did the same thing.

Your education is definitely your number one priority. I think you made the right decision.

Good luck!
