i have a laptop right now but my parents want one fore themselves and thought they could get a better model for me and take mine for themselves. mine is a bit heavy for college with not enough battery time and one and a half hours. we will probably buy from dell butnot necessarily. can anyone suggest an affordable (not over 1000euro), lightweight laptop with good battery time? (in ireland) thanks in advance

ok, if you want dependability, although rather expensive, go with a mac laptop, no matter what kind it is, i saw an earlier posting from another person about an older mac laptop and stick with a mac no matter what...the person who mentioned Dell, absolutely not...two things: one, its Windows, and Windows as no reason for existence; two, for Dell, you have to send it in to a Dell store in order for upgrades and other installments because everything has to be Dell in order to work with the laptop...if you dont 'have the money for a Mac (which would stink), then *sigh* i suppose try an HP or possibly an Acer...stay away from Gateway because my old desktop was garbage from day one and they're overpriced....rather than that, try to get your hands on a Mac....if not, settle for second best (Windows, cough cough).....PLEASE HEED MY WARNING, IM NOT BEING IMMATURE, DO NOT GET A DELL, i don't care how much they store or memory they have, and Toshiba is useless my friend's burned out after a year and countless trips to a technician....Either Mac, HP, or Sony

There will be many models around, its just best to look, pc world offers alot for money. Also regarding battery life, the average length is about 2 hours max, you cannot expect anything more for the price you are quoting, but 2 hours ain't bad considering a lesson is about 2 hours max.

Depends on what you use it for. If you use it for hard out gaming, try buying a more advanced one, with maybe one gigabyte of RAM (Toshiba is a good one for that). But if you just need internet, and word-processing, maybe one around $2000 should do.
