Citrus fertilizers should be balanced such as a 10-10-10 or a 15-5-15 with about 2% magnesium (Mg), 1 to 2% iron (Fe), about 0.5% manganese (Mn), and some copper (Cu), zinc (Zn) and boron (B).

Another very important product you should consider is to apply a beneficial fungus called: "Mycorrhizal fungi". Mycorrhizae attaches itself to the roots of citrus and then sends out a vast network of hyphae...or mycelium... which basically acts as a extension for the root system of the host plant. Broadcast the fertilizer under the canopy of the tree followed with sufficient irrigation in the early spring.

These beneficial fungi will help in the uptake of nutrients, water and protect the roots from various pathogenic fungi and root-invading nematodes.Citrus/Avocados are very dependent on Mycorrhizae and you'll see a dramatic growth response whenever it becomes established. Once applied to your citrus, you probably won't have to re-apply for the life of the plant.

Hope this answered your question and your lemon tree provides an abundant crop next year. Good Luck!

Don't feed it during the dormant season which is now. In the Spring feed it a Citrus Fertilizer and it will tell you how often on the box it comes in. You sprinkle it around the tree on the ground and dig it in a little into the soil and then water it.
