The name comes from an animation character drawn by group member Dawn Angelique Richard, who says,
We were in the studio and I actually draw anime, and Diddy had been throwing some names at us - Courage, Trust, Beauty - but we want our name to mean something. Diddy looked at the superhero that was the anime that I drew and he was like, 'What's the name of that character?' I was like, 'Danity Kane,' and said, 'Yo, that's dope, you guys can be five superheroes; five girls representing courage, representing all those things in one.
Collectively, the quintet possesses a notable breadth of talent and experience in vocal performance, dance, songwriting, acting, visual art and more. And though viewers of MTV's "Making the Band" are well aware of the differences in their personalities, it's clear that they've emerged as a unit - playing to their strengths and encouraging one another to grow.

He didnt name the group, the girls did. Supposedly it was named after a super hero that Dawn (or someone) was drawing one day and Diddy asked what the name of the super hero was and Dawn named it Danity Kane. Kinda stupid in my opinion but hey some of the group names are

One of the girls in the group was drawing a cartoon girl and someone asked her who that was and she said Danity Kane. Everyone in the group thought it was cool, so they used that.
