Hey all, I take the birth control pill, and was wondering, if i want to skip my period for just one month, instead of stopping taking the pills for a week to have my period, can i just continue taking the pills and possibly not have a period that month? I'm visiting my fiance for two weeks and it turns out that one week i'm there i'll be on my period, which really puts a wrench into the works.

for the girl's information down near the bottom, he is not my BOYFRIEND, he is my FIANCE. As in we are engaged to be married. Plus I have been with him for 3 years and 10 months so I think I have a right to sleep with the man I love. Just because you are a virgin who can't get laid doesn't mean you have to argue with everyone else.

Yes hun, I do it pretty often! Heres the deal: Take your three weeks of active pills, skip all of the placebos..And in the place of when you'd take your first placebo..take next months first active pill. I hope that works out for you. Have fun visiting your honey!

Yes, you can. How you do it depends on if you are taking a tri-phasic pill (one where the amount of hormones in the pills varies each week) or a monophasic pill (the amount of hormones is the same every week). If you're on a monophasic just keep taking it with no stopping in between. There is a chance of spotting or break through bleeding. That is bleeding a little bit every day for a while instead of having a full blown period, could last until you actually have a period again.

If you're on a triphasic, take you first pack normally. Take the second pack BACKWARDS. This is so you don't go from a tiny amount of hormone in week three of the first pack to the higher amount of hormone in the first week of the second pack. That would bring on your period. Or you can do two packs at once like: Week 1 pills of pack one, week 1 pills of pack two; week 2 of pack one, week 2 of pack two; week 3 of pack one, week 3 of pack two. This will make it so the hormone levels don't change abruptly and bring on your period.

There is no guarantee that you will have no bleeding. Some women just can't skip periods and whenever they try, just spot the whole month. So beware.

You should definately check with your doctor. Sometimes your personal history and specific medication play a role in whether or not this is an option, but I generally it is allowed. Hope that helps!!!

Talk to your doctor....you don't want to do anything that may confuse your cycle because you could become pregnant.
