This is my biggest worry as council tax is my largest household expence. My only income is from a paper round but because I have savings from previous income I have to pay full council tax. I will have to consider taking part in medical experiments to raise income. Funeral expenses are worrying me to death as well

yes it is very dificult,
to keep up, with these esculating, council tax charges .

We have been hardworking and thrifty all our lives !

We just manage, to scrape by
But have to resort, to eating into our savings,
Just to make ends meet .

when we have, no money left (sooner rather than later )

Hey !!!!! ( the Council) will then,
have to pay out ,for our funerals !

at least we will have the last laugh there~~~~~#

When i feel like doing a spot of haunting ,
The Town Hall is ,
where,
i am aiming to go first ,

i plan, to rattle a few bones ,
at the Councills expensive luncheons and
ridiculouse "I'm all right Jack" meetings

LOL!

I think none of us should have to starve and go with-out heating to pay council tax! What is wrong here is the fact that everybody else has to keep inflation down whilst councils and government bodies are free to do all they can to drive it UP!

Council tax should be capped at inflation, after being re-adjusted for the stupid increases in recent years. Why should council tax go up 30% and wages only 2%. They need to get their act together, like the rest of us are expected to!

All council tax should be doubled and then made free for you in the council district you were born in, Then everybody can retire back to the area that they come from, Devon and Cornwall will empty of wrinklies and the immigrants will pay our Council tax!

If you didn't have savings then you could claim pension credit and you would not have to pay council tax and you would also get a winter fuel payment so you don't need to go without heating. So why don't you pay your funeral in advance with one of those plans, keep about £6000 in the bank for little holidays etc and give the rest away to your nearest and dearest?

The British Government treat their old people with total and utter contempt. They think that having WW1 and WW2 commemoration services is enough to do the old people of this country justice but they have not got a clue. Old people here should be treated with respect; should not be taxed at all for anything and should have special winter payments as the price of heating is far too high (why? Because of Govt. taxes).

When I heard today that Government ministers were demanding a huge pay increase it made my blood boil with rage. They are not People's Representatives, they are scum!

No definately not but the government think otherwise! I think it's disgusting the way we are taxed and taxed and taxed. They will tax breathing next!
I believe that pensioners should be treated with respect and that no one of mature years should have to scrimp and save just to make ends meet.
I know what's it's like to go without heating, hot water and to not have enough food (try one tin of baked beans between 3 adults on Christmas day). When I was with my ex (and his lazy son) I had to do this - and I can cancer and so could not work.

No individual should starve or be cold just becasue the bills need paid surely there must be more money available please go to your nearest citizens advice to get information about what is available to you. And if it was me and i was in that situation i would buy food and get my heating on. IT is far too cold to be sitting there without heat. Without food and heat you will be making yourself very ill. And if there was money any left over i would pay something towards my council tax bill. Please dont starve or feel the cold because of some bureacratic office who doesnt care.

Funeral expenses are worrying you to death--that is kinda funny.

I'd choose paying the heat with whatever is left over, food yoou can get from soup kitchens, etc. You are also at risk of dying of exposure to cold sooner than you would actually starve.

You are so selfish. If you were really community spirited, you would be eager to pay as much as possible into society's coffers in order fund asylum seekers and those on benefit who earn insufficient in the cash labour market to fund that second Mercedes or a short break in Florida. Stop wasting time on YA and get some sleep so that you take on an additional paper round tomorrow. That is the advise of my friends Cynthia and Nicholas, whose pet names are Cyn, Nick.
