Oh dear...you're extremely sensitive. See you mentioned the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. If I'm not mistaken, most great English bands of the early sixties (with the two groups mentioned at the front of it all) used the blues and a sprinkle of jazz to create a sound of their own...Britain is indeed a country which is musical - but we must understand how influences from the world at large made us how we were - and are today (Westlife notwithstanding...). If you remember the mid-seventies, Britain then sucked up the German electronic thing, and so as good as it may be to praise our musical skills, it indeed would be equally as good to think about our many influences.

Are britain and america the only countries in this earth?
egypt, china, japan, greece, germany, france, italy, korea, bali, arabic oriental musicians have various ancient folksmusic, marvellous dancers and ancient instruments, the british or the americans are not able to play.

America has the biggest music industry... but the UK has many great bands. Indeed I would say the UK and Scandinavia produce the best music. I like a lot of world music too, Italy, Slovenia, Japan... But Britain is still best over all.
Oooh I also love Gogol Bordello - they are a great band (from somwhere in eastern Europe).

America may have the original music, but Britain has the talent to play it.
We Brits only picked up on the music from the States, because the Americans would'nt let their black artist's perform it.

definitely the U.S. look at our tens of thousands of high school and college bands/music programs. we are by far the dominant trend setters in pop and urban music. not to marginalize the brits, they have an outstanding music tradition too. but the U.S. sets the pace in terms of modern music. rock & roll, jazz, blues, hip hop, rap, techno - they all originated in the U.S.

I completely agree with you. I think British bands have inspired other countries to make music.

Whatever, British bands do nothing but copy American bands. We invented the blues, jazz, rock 'n' roll, punk rock, hip hop, funk, country, r&b, etc. You guys wait for us to create something, and then you just copy it and try to tell us how great you are.
