You could also say that a plant cell was like a city. The nucleus would be the center of town with a Main Street lined with the court house and other public buildings that play an adminstrative role for the city. The vacuole would be a giant factory that would be a water storage and waste processing facility. The chloroplasts would be smaller factories that produce food for the city's population. The cell wall would be equivalent to the city limits. And so on.... JUST ANOTHER IDEA!

A cell is like an office. All of the directions and plans come from the executive offices (the nucleus). The finances (energy) are handled by the accounting office (mitochondria). The mailroom packages shipments (golgi) for the outside. The building itself is like the membrane, separating the inside from the out, while the doors allow passage (channels).
